The good, the bad and the ugly

    By Gerry Duggan | Misc | Comments are Closed | 30 November, 2017 | 0

The first 25 years of TPS consulting has been anything but boring – here is a small collection of the events that stand out the most for me:

    Most interesting development centre venue?

A tent-city conference centre near Pune, India. The monsoon rains made for darting between rooms more than interesting.

    Most uninteresting development centre venue?

South Mimms services on the M25. Enough said!

Most enjoyable place to run a training course?

On the ski slopes of Zermatt.

Longest journey to a training venue?

53 hours to Melbourne. Cracked windscreens, missed connections, fuel shortages – this one had it all.

Biggest surprise provided by a client?

When asked by a client if I’d be willing to help them communicate with staff about a new change programme – they then rolled back a partition where 200 staff were waiting to be addressed.

    Most satisfying feedback received?

“Your programme changed the way I think about myself and my work and it has been the single most important development in my career.”

    Most unexpected encounter?

A crocodile in the hotel reception.

    Most penny-pinching client?

“We have paid Gerry for a full day so does anybody have any personal problems they would like to discuss with him for the remaining 15 minutes?”

Biggest contract walked away from for ethical reasons?

£75,000.  Poorer but sleep more easily.

    Best consultancy experience?

Still to come!  The future is bright.
